Shredder 1.0 is a very small Macintosh application designed to delete files in one quick step. It only takes up 10K (that's kilobytes) on your hard drive. And it minds it's own business when you leave it alone.
- Using Shredder 1.0
Because of the implications of using a application that permanently deletes files (or folders or applications or extensions or whatever else you throw at it), care was taken to avoid the inevitable slap on the forehead when you delete your thesis project instead of saving it.
•VERY IMPORTANT: Shredder 1.0 only works by dragging and dropping onto its icon. Double clicking will likely earn you an error message. This is by design. The reason is to help avoid deleting files accidentally.
To put Shredder 1.0 into action, you drag the item you wish to delete onto the Shredder 1.0 icon. Before dragging said item onto the Shredder, be sure you really want to delete it. It is a good idea to put the Shredder icon on your desktop near the "Trash".
Wham-Bam-Thank-You-Ma'am. Bye-Bye file.

- How It Works
Since Shredder 1.0 is an application and not a Control Panel (CDEV) or an extension (INIT) there is absolutely no worry about conflicts with other system componants. By dragging and dropping a file onto the Shredder 1.0 icon, you activate the program. It then places the item in the trash, then it empties the trash. It does this very quickly and then quits all by itself. Shredder 1.0 requires system 7.0 or greater (with Applescript) and runs with about 200K of RAM.

This program is Shareware, which means if you use it, and you'd like me to write more useful things, then you should send me $10 (US). For individual registrations, you might as well just send cash, but I can accept checks drawn on US bank accounts or money orders (sorry, no first-borne).
